TonyWild Foundation uses storytelling, science, and education to connect people with nature and inspire conservation action across Africa.
About
TonyWild Foundation is a conservation storytelling and environmental education organization founded in 2016 by conservation photographer and National Geographic Explorer Anthony Ochieng Onyango. We use photography, film, and immersive nature experiences to connect people with the natural world and inspire conservation action across Africa. By placing people at the heart of conservation stories, we help build a future where communities and nature thrive together.
Our Work
Storytelling
We believe that the future of conservation begins with connection. Through our Visual Ecological Literacy Program (VELP) and Park Access Initiative, we provide young people with transformative opportunities to experience nature, develop environmental awareness, and become champions for wildlife conservation. By taking students beyond the classroom and into national parks, forests, wetlands, and marine ecosystems, we inspire a lifelong commitment to protecting nature and building a sustainable future.
Stories have the power to change how people see the natural world. Through conservation photography, documentary filmmaking, journalism, and digital media, we tell compelling stories about wildlife, ecosystems, and the communities working to protect them. Our storytelling amplifies conservation solutions, raises awareness about environmental challenges, and inspires action across Africa and beyond. From coral reefs and elephants to sharks and community conservation initiatives, we use visual storytelling to connect people with nature and drive positive change.
Environmental Education
Effective conservation starts with understanding people and nature. We conduct and support research that explores human-wildlife coexistence, conservation behavior change, environmental education, and community-led conservation. By combining science, local knowledge, and storytelling, we generate insights that help conservation organizations, governments, and communities make informed decisions and create lasting impact for biodiversity and people.
