We learned that monitoring biodiversity isn’t optional; it’s vital. It shapes policy, informs land use, and protects the urban green spaces we so often take for granted.

Our first interaction was with a six-year-old boy keen to learn photography. Delight Asher, our storytelling assistant, patiently guided him, and to our surprise, he picked up the basics remarkably quickly. Another standout participant was 15-year-old Samuel Kareko, who later won the photography competition with a compelling image showcasing the impact of pollution on marine life.

The Revvvisha Art Competition, organized by KCB Bank a week after the WRC Safari Rally, can further emphasize the link between motorsports, conservation, and the creative arts. Encouraging young artists to express their appreciation for nature and conservation through their artwork can help reinforce the message of environmental responsibility and sustainability, creating a holistic approach to promoting conservation efforts within the context of motorsports.

“I am honored to be part of this incredible series that brings together some of the world’s most passionate wildlife photographers,” said Anthony. “Photography has the power to change perspectives and ignite action. Through this feature, I hope to encourage more people to connect with nature and use storytelling as a tool for conservation.”

For many participants, this was their first encounter with a digital camera. Out of the twenty eager learners, only five had previously held one. Guided by Beryl Muga, the Storytelling coordinator TonyWild Foundation, they began with the fundamentals: understanding camera settings, framing, and the essence of a compelling photograph. These lessons were more than technical; they were a gateway to seeing their environment with new eyes.
